Overview

Son My 2 is a 2,250 MW LNG-fired combined cycle power plant planned within the Son My Power Centre on the south-central coast of Vietnam. The site was originally planned for coal power and was later redesigned as two gas-fired plants, Son My 1 and Son My 2. Fuel will come from the neighbouring Son My LNG import terminal, which is being developed by AES and PetroVietnam Gas (PV Gas) and is sized to supply up to 4,500 MW of gas-fired generation. Together, the plant and terminal are intended to diversify Vietnam’s energy mix with imported LNG and meet growing electricity demand.

My role

  • Authored the surface water impact assessment, evaluating potential impacts of construction and operation on surface water availability and quality, and proposing mitigation and monitoring measures.
