Overview
The Bac Lieu LNG-to-Power Project is the largest 100% foreign-invested project in the Mekong Delta. It combines a 3,200 MW combined cycle power plant onshore with an offshore floating LNG storage and regasification unit, linked by a 35 km high-pressure gas pipeline. The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report was approved by Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment on 1 September 2021, a key permitting milestone for the project.
My role
- Contributed to the Environmental Baseline, characterising existing environmental conditions at the project site in the low-lying Mekong Delta coastal area
- Authored the soil and groundwater impact assessment, evaluating potential impacts on soil and groundwater from construction and operation of the power plant and associated facilities, and proposing mitigation and monitoring measures
